Business owners donate e-bike to Kawartha Lakes Police Service

KAWARTHA LAKES-Al and Kyle Hussey are fourth generation business owners in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

They were looking for a way to give back to the community so they reached out to Kawartha Lakes Police.

“The two of them got together and Al called me around the start of the year and floated the idea of sponsoring a police package e-bike to our fleet this year.” Chief Mark Mitchell says. “Once summer finally arrived we were able to try it out and our officers are thrilled with it.”

The father and son duo donated an e-bike, all decked out for the police service. The Police Services Board thanked them at a meeting on Monday.

Chief Mitchell says the bike is already proving to be helpful. “We had a call up at the hospital last week and officer left on the bike and an officer left on the cruiser and they pretty much arrived at the same time.”
