KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha lakes Police have charged two Fenelon Falls men with alcohol related driving charges.
Police say approximately 2:10 a.m. on March 23, 2019 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP conducted a vehicle stop in the Fenelon Falls area. The vehicle had failed to stop at two separate intersections, both of which are controlled by stop signs.
As a result of the ensuing investigation, Cole Semple, 22 years of age, of Fenelon Falls, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, contrary to the Criminal Code
- Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
- Adult, novice driver – BAC above zero, contrary to the HTA
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
While the officer was transporting the accused from Fenelon Falls to Lindsay, an unrelated vehicle was observed swerving into the on-coming lane. This vehicle was subsequently stopped by two nearby OPP officers and the ensuing investigation resulted in another impaired driver being removed from the highway.
Kenneth Cox, 37 years of age, of Fenelon Falls, was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
