PETERBOROUGH-A Federal Offender, on the run from police and known to frequent Peterborough, has been apprehended.
34 year old Stephen Dunkley became the subject of a Canada-wide warrant after breaching his statutory release while out on parole. He had been a two-year prison sentence after being charged in a series of vehicle thefts totalling more than $350,000 in 2017 in the Peterborough area.
On Sunday March 10, 2019 members from the Northumberland OPP recovered a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop.
Police say just before 2:00 am officers conducted a traffic stop on a grey 2010 GMC Sierra pick-up truck with two occupants on Applewood Drive, located near the industrial park in Brighton. Upon stopping the vehicle the male driver revealed to the officers that the truck he was driving was a stolen vehicle and that he was currently wanted for violating conditions of his parole.
Investigation confirmed the pick-up truck was reported stolen from a residence in Stirling on March 5, 2019.
Stephen Andrew Dunkley of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Break in Instruments
