Police investigating fatal crash near Bobcaygeon

KAWARTHA LAKES-Peterborough County OPP are investigating a fatal crash north of Bobcaygeon this morning.

Police and emergency crews were called to assist at a collision at approximately 10:30am on County Road 36 near Gypsy Point Road.

Officials say a motor vehicle was travelling on County Road 36 when it left the road and collided with a hydro pole. The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased driver has been identified as 64 year old Cheryl Steward of Lindsay, Ontario.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

County Road 36 was closed at Gypsy Point Road for several hours while members trained in Collision Reconstruction measured and documented the scene. It has since reopened.
