Widespread power outage leaves 4500 homes in the dark

KAWARTHA LAKES-It was a long, cold night for a number of Kawartha Lakes residents.

Hydro One confirms to Kawartha 411 that 4525 customers lost power at approximately 9:39 pm on Monday night. Some power was restored within a short time others had to wait until 3am and even 7am Tuesay morning.

Hydro One says the reason for the outage was downed power lines in an off-road section of the grid. Crews had to access the area with snowmobiles, making temporary repairs in dark. Permanent repairs are in the works this morning.
