OPP busy over the weekend with driving complaints

KAWARTHA LAKES- Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP had a busy weekend with traffic complaints and vehicle stops.

Officers responded to numerous traffic complaints ranging from observations of erratic drivers to snowmobilers using private property. They also initiated multiple vehicle stops that led to drivers being charged.

On March 2, 2019 an officer stopped a vehicle on Colborne Street in Fenelon Falls and the subsequent investigation resulted in the driver being charged with two Highway Traffic Act offences. Richard Lorfing, 23 years of age, of Hamilton was charged with driving while under suspension and failing to surrender permit for motor vehicle.

On March 3, 2019 an officer conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 35, near Grandy Road, that resulted in the driver, Saji Albin, 19 years of age, of Scarborough being charged with driving with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act. The officer seized 3.8 grams of cannabis.
