Local man facing numerous charges after allegedly fleeing from police

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 63 year old man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from police.

On March 1, 2019 an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP was patrolling in the Kirkfield area when a vehicle was allegedly observed pulling a trailer without the required device displayed.

Police say when the officer initiated a vehicle stop, the driver pulled into a driveway and then fled the scene on foot. The officer followed the driver and was eventually able to arrest the male.

John Bolender, 63 years of age has been charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from Peace Officer, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Eight counts of drive while prohibited, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Failing to display device, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
