KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha 411 has learned that the TD Banks in Omemee and Bethany are closing. The notice is being posted today.
The bank is the only financial institution in Bethany and Omemee and the Omemee branch has been there for 40 years.
“We continually assess customer demand in our branch network, and as a result, we sometimes make decisions to open or close branch locations.” Carla Hindman, Manager Corporate and Public Affairs told Kawartha 411. “After a careful review of a number of factors, including a decline in customer traffic and transactions, we made the difficult decision to close our branches in Omemee and Bethany on August 23, 2019”
Hindman says customer accounts will transfer to the branch at 81 Kent St West in Lindsay however customers are welcome to access their accounts at any TD location, or through mobile, phone and internet banking. “Customers can also continue to access ATM services at the Omemee branch, as we work to identify an ATM location following the closure.” Hindman says.
The bank will be holding information sessions in the community in April/May.
There will be no job losses as a result of the closures and all employees will have roles at nearby TD branches according to Hindman.
