Lindsay woman charged with theft after being pulled over for traffic violations

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 36 year old Lindsay woman is facing theft charges after being pulled over by police for traffic violations.

Police say on January 14th at 9:27am a City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service constable stopped a motorist travelling on Kent Street west in Lindsay in order to investigate a number of alleged Highway Traffic Act offences. During the officer’s interaction with the motorist, it was discovered that she had just stolen a number of items from a business in the area according to police.

The woman was arrested and the property was returned to the store. Charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and failing to comply with the conditions of her probation order is 36-year-old Melissa Rae Maides of Lindsay.
