Cannabis seized from teen at RIDE check in Fenelon Falls

KAWARTHA LAKES- On December 9 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were conducting a RIDE program on Kawartha Lakes Road 8, in the Fenelon Falls area.

Police say during this initiative, a vehicle entered the RIDE check program and the ensuing investigation resulted in the driver being charged with two offences under the Cannabis Control Act.

The driver, a local 18 year old male, was charged with the following offences:

  •   Person’s under 19 years – possess cannabis
  •   Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

Seized from the vehicle was 7 grams of cannabis.

The OPP is reminding drivers that when transporting cannabis in a vehicle, unless otherwise exempt, the cannabis must be packaged in its original packaging that has not been opened, or packed in baggage that is sealed and not readily available to any person in the vehicle.
