Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-A traffic complaint received by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in a local male facing alcohol related charges.

Police say on November 25th officers responded to a complaint regarding a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on King Street in Omemee. The alleged vehicle was located and the ensuing investigation led to the driver, Mark Winchester, 37 years of age, being arrested and charged with the following offences:

•         Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

•          Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80mgs of alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The vehicle was towed from the scene. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on January 17, 2019.
