Alleged impaired driver crashes into vehicle causing it to spin and hit a pole

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 27 year old Lindsay man is facing charges after allegedly crashing into a vehicle causing it to spin around and hit a pole.

Police say on November 24th shortly after 9:00 pm, City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service attended with Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue and Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service to a motor vehicle collision at Lindsay Street South and Russel Street in Lindsay.  Upon arrival it was learned a man had allegedly driven his truck from a parking lot onto Lindsay Street at a high rate of speed, losing control and striking another car. The impact spun the car around, and the truck continued eventually striking a pole.

The investigation revealed the driver of the truck was intoxicated, did not have permission to have the vehicle and did not possess a drivers licence according to police.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jordan Sabovitch of Lindsay is charged Criminally with Over 80, Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle, and take motor vehicle without owner’s consent and further charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence.

Sabovitch was released on a Promise to Appear and is to appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on January 3rd, 2019 to answer to the charges.
