KAWARTHA LAKES-A 73 year old man was severely injured during what police are describing as a “violent crime spree” in Lindsay on Monday.
Police say it all began when the accused attended a residence in Lindsay which was occupied by a 73-year-old homeowner who was known to him. The homeowner confronted the accused about a theft that was alleged to have occurred one year previous according to police where it is alleged the accused punched the homeowner in the face, causing significant injury that required medical attention.
The accused then attended a local store where it is alleged, he stole a drink. Shortly after leaving the store, the accused went to a Victoria Avenue North residence and confronted a former acquaintance where he allegedly assaulted the acquaintance and then kicked a dog at the residence. Before leaving the property the accused also reported to have damaged a car belonging to the man he assaulted.
The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service located the accused and arrested him. The accused repeatedly kicked and spat at the investigating police officers. Charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, assault, assault causing bodily harm, cruelty to animals, mischief under $5000, failing to comply with the conditions of his probation order and three counts of assault police is 35-year-old Jason Tarso of no fixed address.
