Scarborough man charged after police chase through Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A 29 year old from Scarborough is facing charges after an alleged police chase through Lindsay.

Police say on Thursday October 4, 2018 at 12:52am a member of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service stopped a vehicle on William Street north in Lindsay for a Highway Traffic Act offence.

The officer asked the driver to exit his vehicle while the vehicle’s passenger remained in the car according to police.  A second officer arrived to assist and discovered the passenger was in possession of open alcohol in the vehicle.  While the second officer attempted to speak with the passenger who was still in the vehicle, the man allegedly moved from the passenger seat to the driver seat and fled north on William Street.

The fleeing vehicle was followed by police and was successfully stopped on Little Britain Road.

The driver was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight while pursued by a peace officer, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, fail or refuse to provide a breath sample, failing to comply with the conditions of his recognizance and obstruct a peace officer is 29-year-old Delano Torrae Norman of Scarborough.
