Fenelon Township man charged after jeep hits building

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Fenelon Township man was arrested for impaired driving early this morning after his jeep allegedly slid through the intersection of Sussex Street South and Durham Street West in Lindsay and hit a building.

Kawartha Lakes Police got the call just before 12:30 am on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 after witnesses said they observed a jeep slide through the intersection, strike the building and then attempt to leave. When police arrived on the scene they say they found a man standing outside of his Jeep a short distance away. When spoken to by the officer it was determined that the man had been drinking and he complied with a demand to do a roadside screening test for alcohol, which he failed according to police. The man was then transported to KLPS where he submitted to breath tests indicating that he had consumed in excess of the legal limit.
23-year-old Nicholas Katcher of Fenelon Township was charged with Impaired Driving, Exceeding the Legal Limit of Alcohol in his blood and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking.
The man’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
