KAWARTHA LAKES-Trucks full of sound and lighting equipment pulled up to Coronation Hall in Omemee today. A number of pieces of equipment were unloaded and taken into the hall. All of this points to Canadian rocker Neil Young coming to town for a much anticipated show and release of his new album-The Visitor.
Young however isn’t just a visitor to Omemee he spent many of his younger years there.
The first real indication Young would be performing in his “home town” came yesterday when councillors in the City of Kawartha Lakes recieved an email notifying them that there would be a road closure in the area starting today to accommodate a Bell Media production.
But perhaps the most telling sign that Neil is in fact coming to town was the sighting of his current partner, actor Daryl Hannah. At least one resident bumped into Hannah outside Coronation Hall today.
On Nov. 11 Young sparked speculation after posting on Facebook that he “will be going to my town.” for a show.
The concert is scheduled for Friday night at 8pm. Local radio stations are running promotions giving away tickets.
