Special weather statement issued for Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES- Environment Canada says a significant winter storm expected this weekend and they’ve issued a special weather statement.

A low pressure system is expected to track over Southern Ontario on Saturday. This low pressure system has the potential to bring significant snow or rain to the area through the weekend.

UPDATE:

  • Apsley – Woodview – Northern Peterborough County
  • Fenelon Falls – Balsam Lake Park – Northern Kawartha Lakes

Mixed precipitation at times Saturday into Sunday morning.

Rain is expected over the regions for Saturday and may be mixed with snow at times. There will be the potential for a period of freezing rain in some areas.

The rain will change to snow Saturday night, and taper to flurries Sunday morning. Several centimetres of snow are possible.

Travel conditions may be poor at times in some areas.
