School bus slides into ditch in Trent Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-Police say ten students were on a school bus when it slid into the ditch yesterday afternoon.

At  approximately 3:50 pm, OPP Officers responded to the incident on the Lakehurst Road in the Township of Trent Lakes. According to police the bus had been northbound on the Lakehurst Road just north of Gannons Narrows when the driver pulled over onto the east shoulder. The bus was almost at a complete stop when the shoulder of the roadway gave way and the bus slowly slid down into the ditch and then onto its side.

There were 10 students on the bus at the time. No one on the bus sustained any injuries as a result of the accident. There was minimal damage to the bus.

The subsequent investigation resulted in no charges being laid.
