Three drivers arrested for alcohol related offences over the weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-Three drivers were arrested for alcohol related offences in the City of Kawartha Lakes over the weekend.

The first incident occured shortly after 4am on September 30th when an officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 35 for erratic driving. Following an investigation the driver, Michael Stapleton, 48 years of age of Port Hope, was charged with:

  •  Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis resin – under 1 gram contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

The second incident happened later that same day when officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 35 just north of Killarney Bay Road. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle received minor injuries. Arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) CCC and Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) is 21 year old Luke Johnson of Ajax.

On October 1st at approximately 9:15pm the OPP responded to a traffic complaint. The vehicle was located on Highway 7A and following an investigation the driver, 49 year old Richie Dupe of Janetville, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  •  Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) CCC
  • Driving With More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
