Plane crash near Haliburton this afternoon

HALIBURTON-The Transportation Safety Board has been called in to investigate a plane crash near Haliburton today.

Officers from the Haliburton Highlands detachment of the OPP along with Haliburton County Paramedic Services and Dysart et Al Fire Department responded to a report of a plane crash just east of Stanhope Airport in the Township of Dysart et al this afternoon just before 2:30.

Officials say the single engine plane was attempting to take off and lost power causing it to crash into a wooded area east the airport. The pilot and passenger were taken to local hospital as a precaution.
