Woodville home destroyed by fire

KAWARTHA LAKES- A home in Woodville was destroyed by fire overnight.

The City of Kawartha Lakes Fire Department told Kawartha 411 crews from five halls were called in to help extinguish the blaze. Water also had to be trucked in to the area as there is no municipal water service on Windmere Road, where the fire took place.

Damage is estimated to be around $250,000. Three people were home at the time of the fire. The homeowner, Steven young, was taken to hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. He was released this morning.

There’s no word on the cause of the fire. The fire department says the smoke detectors were working and alerted the occupants to the blaze.
