KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes OPP laid numerous drug charges over the last week.
On August 8, 2017 at approximately 4:20 pm 40 year old Jermaine Beals of Lindsay was allegedly arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant. Police say he was also charged with the following offences Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary, Fail to Comply with Probation Order, Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis resin.
Meanwhile on August 3rd shortly after midnight officers conducting a R.I.D.E spot check, on Highway 7 just east of Omemee, arrested and charged 44 year old Genevieve Losier of Peterborough with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking,Traffick Schedule II Substance – Cannabis, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime.
The  Community Street Drug Unit conducted an investigation on August 2nd and 47 year old David Newell of Coboconk, was arrested and charged with two counts of Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl.
That same day just after midnight OPP officers say they were called to a truck and trailer in the ditch on Highway 7A near Janetville Road. As a result of the investigation Brent MARKELL, 33 years of age of Williamsburg, is charged with the following offences, Obstruct Peace Officer, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Percocet, Possession of a Schedule II Substance, Drive While Under Suspension,Draw Trailer, No Plate, Drive Motor Vehicle, Fail to Display Two Plates.
On July 31, at approximately 2:30 pm, 31 year old Christopher Graham of Bowmanville, who was allegedly wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, was seen at an area service station. As police arrested the accused a struggle ensued according to officers. The accused was arrested on the warrant and is now charged with the following additional offences:
Assault a Peace Officer contrary to section 270(1)(a) CCC
Assault With A Weapon contrary to section 267(a) CCC
Assault With Intent to Resist Arrest contrary to section 270(1)(b) CCC
Fail to Comply with Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) CCC (two counts)
Drive While Under Suspension contrary to section 53 HTA
