Local builder being investigated by new home warranty program

Consumers who have signed an agreement to buy a home from Kings Custom Homes Incorporated or Cory Savary are being urged to contact Tarion.

Tarion has issued a Notice of Proposal to revoke the registration of Kings Custom Homes Incorporated, a builder operating in the Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough area, for violating terms of its registration under the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act. Tarion says Savary is a director of the company.

Tarion’s mandate is to protect the rights of new home buyers by regulating new home builders and administering the province’s new home warranty program.  Part of Tarion’s mandate is to investigate and prosecute builders who violate the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act. No details of what lead to the investigation were released.

The builder is based in Omemee and is selling homes in Otonabee-South Monaghan; Asphodel-Norwood; Douro-Dummer; Cavan Monaghan; Hamilton Township; and Kawartha Lakes according to Tarion.

Tarion’s enforcement team is investigating the activities of Savary and Kings Custom Homes Incorporated and is urging anyone who has information about the builder or has signed an agreement of purchase and sale with the builder to contact Tarion.

Kings Custom Homes Incorporated has the right to appeal Tarion’s proposal within 15 days of receiving the notice.

Consumers can contact Tarion at 1-800-786-6497, or by sending an email to [email protected].
