The Grenville County Detachment of the OPP responded to a call Friday afternoon involving a horse that had fallen out of a livestock trailer while being transported on Highway 401 near Prescott.
According to officers they were called Highway 401 eastbound in the area of Edward Street where they found an injured horse lying on the roadway on Friday July 14th. Traffic was stopped and motorists were assisting the animal.
An investigation revealed that the horse had fallen out of an insecure door at the rear of the livestock trailer, which continued eastbound without stopping according to police. Officers were able to locate the truck and trailer and escorted it back to the scene a short time later.
The horse was eventually able to stand up and was reloaded into the trailer and taken for a veterinarian examination.
