Peterborough MPP Jeff Leal announced today that the province is investing almost a million dollars to upgrade and rehabilitate Twelfth Line Road Dummer.
$ 830,897 will be spent on road widening, utility relocation, brushing and fencing to help improve traffic flow and safety for local residents.
“Our government is committed to improving roads, bridges and water infrastructure in rural Ontario. I’m pleased to be here today in the Township of Douro-Dummer to announce this important funding that will help the Township make critical upgrades to Twelfth Line Road Dummer. This important investment will help keep people moving, create jobs, boost our economy and improve the quality of life for residents of Peterborough County.” Jeff Leal, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced at the Township of Douro-Dummer Council office today.
The Township of Douro-Dummer is one of 55 communities that will receive support from the province through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) to build and upgrade local infrastructure.
J. Murray Jones, Mayor, Twp. of Douro-Dummer said “This is a very exciting and much needed project for our township and the residents of our 12th Line. Without this funding it would have been impossible for us to complete this project with our own resources. Improved access to the County forest and vastly improved safety conditions are the end result. We very much appreciate this support.”
There’s no word when the project will begin.
