Kawartha Lakes OPP and Peterborough Police officers receive awards

 

Kawartha Lakes OPP Constable Jennifer Quigley has been recognized for her care and compassion for those in the vulnerable sector.  Quigley was not able to attend the award ceremony so Inspector Tim Tatchell, the Detachment Commander accepted the award on her behalf.

The third annual Outstanding Police Officer Service Awards were handed out on Monday at the Sutherland Campus.  Seven local officers received the honour.

Peterborough Police Constable Cameron Kenny was acknowledged for outstanding contributions in the field of traffic enforcement and for his work with Special Olympics.

Peterborough County OPP Constable Jason Clarke received the award for his successes in investigating and preventing property crimes and for his involvement and commitment with Pedal for Hope.

Haliburton Highlands OPP Constable Tim Negus was honoured for his leadership in organizing Push for Change and assisting a Syrian family adjust to a new life in Haliburton County.

Three officers from Port Hope and Cobourg were also given awards.

The Outstanding Police Officer Service Awards were created after the death of three Moncton RCMP officers who were shot by a gunman in the line of duty in June 2014 and the negative comments made after the incident about police.

Pamela VanMeer is a two time winner of the prestigious Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Award. Her investigative reports on abuse in Long Term Care Homes garnered international attention for the issue and won the Ron Laidlaw Award. She is a former reporter and anchor at CHEX News, now Global Peterborough and helped launch the New CHEX Daily, a daily half hour talk show. While at CHCH News in Hamilton she covered some of the biggest news stories of the day.
