Toronto Police issue public safety alert after overdoses at downtown nightclubs

The Toronto Police Service has issued a public safety alert after a number of incidents involving apparent drug overdoses.

Officers were called to a medical complaint at Uniun Nightclub located at 473 Adelaide Street West on Saturday just before 1am. It is reported that a 24-year-old woman had collapsed from an apparent drug overdose. Police say she was rushed to hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

While police were investigating this incident, another woman collapsed from an apparent drug overdose. She was taken to hospital in serious condition

About a half hour later officers responded to a medical complaint at The Rebel Nightclub located on Polson Street. Two men and one woman had collapsed from apparent drug overdoses according to police. All three victims were transported to hospital

All of these incidents reportedly involved the use of Methylenedioxy Methyalamphetamine (MDMA).
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
