Bobcaygeon woman shares her experience after having preventative double mastectomy

KAWARTHA LAKES-Laura Kelly was just 27 years old when she decided to have a double preventative mastectomy. Her mom Brenda had breast cancer when Laura was young and had inherited the BRCA cancer gene. Brenda beat cancer the first time around but it came back. After her mom passed away Laura was tested for the gene.  She didn’t have cancer but had the gene so she made the decision to have both breasts removed. October is breast cancer awareness month and Laura is telling us more about her inspirational story and what she’s doing now to help others.
