News You Can Use: Winter Overnight Parking Restrictions Are Now In Effect In Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES- Overnight parking restrictions are now in effect across Kawartha Lakes. You cannot park on municipal streets from November 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027 between the hours of 11pm and 6am.

These restrictions help keep roads clear and safe for snowplows, emergency vehicles and other drivers.

  • Parking restrictions apply every night, even when there is no snow
  • Vehicles parked on the street during restricted hours may receive a ticket of up to $60
  • Vehicles may also be towed at the owner’s expense

Overnight parking is not allowed in municipal parking lots between 11pm and 6am, unless you have a permit.

In certain downtown areas, overnight parking is not allowed between 2am and 6am instead of 11pm to 6am.

These areas include:

  • Lindsay
  • Kent Street West, between Lindsay Street and Victoria Avenue
  • Bobcaygeon
  • Bolton Street, between King Street and Canal Street
  • Fenelon Falls
  • Colborne Street, between Water Street and Bond Street
  • May Street, between Water Street and Francis Street
  • Francis Street West, between Colborne Street and May Street
  • Omemee
  • King Street, between Queen Street and Sturgeon Road

Clearing snow and ice helps everyone travel safely, including people using wheelchairs, walkers and strollers. Residents and businesses are responsible for clearing snow and ice around their properties.

Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Do not shovel or blow snow from your property onto the street. This is against the law.
  • When possible, pile snow on the right side of your driveway when facing the street. This can help reduce the amount of snow pushed back into your driveway.
  • Keep snowbanks near the road low so drivers can see clearly when entering or leaving driveways. Shovel snow back further onto your property.
  • Keep exits clear. Remove snow from doors, stairs, fire escapes and furnace vents.
  • Clear fire hydrants. If there is a fire hydrant near your property, keep snow and ice cleared around it so firefighters can reach it quickly in an emergency.
