Think Twice About Visiting Maryboro Lodge Museum This Halloween: It’s Haunted!

KAWARTHA LAKES-Each year, local volunteers, including many youths, come up with many creative ways to celebrate Halloween. Previous years have featured performances of the Phantom of the Opera, a fortune teller, an insane Opera singer, Sergeant Pepper, the Wicked Witch, Beetlejuice, Art the Clown, and the ghost of Maryboro Lodge Museum, to name a few.

“I really like seeing all the characters,” explains Sara Merdith. From beginning to end, the building the event is one surprise after another. “It’s the kids’ enthusiasm that makes the event special.”

The Haunted Museum consists of two separate experiences—a friendly Halloween event and a scary haunted house, so visitors can choose the appropriate activities for them. Many families drop by while they are out trick-or-treating, and once they have been through, many kids want to do it again.
“I look forward to the Monster Mash,” says Isaac Bellwood. The Monster Mash is all about acting the part of your costume… with prizes.
For many visitors, the highlight of the event is the haunted museum.
“It is scary!” Sara exclaims. “You never know what’s lurking around the next corner. They made me scream!”
The haunted museum is dark, it’s creepy, and it’s very original. Volunteers put a lot of effort into coming up many new ideas for each year’s event. At the end of the night, there are always some kids coming back to ask, “Can you come scare me again?”
If you want to spend Halloween with many people from your community who love the holiday, Maryboro Lodge Museum is the place to be! There are a lot of local characters there to make sure that it’s a night you won’t soon forget.
“I like coming to Halloween at the museum, because I like seeing everybody,” remarks Ange Edgar. “And you have no idea what to expect!” Carol Milroy adds, “They just never stop having fun at the museum.  From KidsFest to Harvest Happenings to spooky family fun on Halloween, there’s always something exciting happening.”
The Haunted Museum runs from 5-9pm on October 31.
