KAWARTHA LAKES-Georgina St. George and Walter Thomas Comber on their wedding day. “Her mother had moved down here from White Lake, near Irondale, and built a beautiful home on the river, that we call the Ambassador Lodge. I have the bills from the Esturion, when it brought bricks from Lindsay to build that house. He came from Bury St. Edmond in England.” Mossie Boyd travelled to England and recruited Walter to come over to Bobcaygeon. “He was brought down here and then he was sent back to go through Oxford University to get his degree. Then he started teaching the Boyd children.  The school started in Boyd’s house, but then moved to what later became the Library—in those days it was a room off the lumber office.” Later on, when it was Bobcaygeon Public Library, the entrance to the library was the former classroom.
