BANCROFT-A Bancroft resident is facing multiple charges after being arrested twice in the same day in separate incidents.
On Friday, September 25, 2026, just before 8:45 a.m., members of the Bancroft OPP responded to multiple traffic complaints regarding the same vehicle on Hastings Street in Bancroft according to police.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Following an investigation a 65 year old from Bancroft was charged with:
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Driving while under suspension
- Drive motor vehicle in contravention of conditions
- Fail to notify change of address
The vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.
The accused was released from custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on November 23, 2026.
Police say later that same day, just after 5:00 p.m., Bancroft OPP officers responded to a report of an unwanted person at a business on Hastings Street North.
Officers located the same individual who had allegedly been operating a different vehicle. Following an investigation, the accused was arrested again and charged with:
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Driving while under suspension
- Drive motor vehicle in contravention of conditions
- Fail to notify change of address
The second vehicle was also towed and impounded for 45 days.
As a result of the second arrest, the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft.
