KAWARTHA LAKES-The Kawartha Lakes Police Service is investigating reports of an act of
mischief that was being circulated on social media involving an elementary school on
Colborne Street West in Lindsay.
Police say sometime overnight on August 25, a wooden cross-like structure was placed near the school building with a hateful symbol attached to it. Upon police arrival, the structure had already been removed from the property.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist with the investigation, including dashcam video, to contact the Kawartha Lakes Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch at 705-324-5252 or Kawartha Haliburton Crime Stoppers at 1- 800-222-8477 (TIPS).
“The Kawartha Lakes Police Service condemns all forms of racism, hatred, and discrimination. Acts that promote hatred or intimidation have no place in our community, and we remain committed to ensuring Kawartha Lakes is a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place for all residents,” said police.
