City Begins Environmental Assessment For Future Lindsay Water System Improvements

KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes has started an Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study to plan for future capacity increases to the Lindsay drinking water system.

Officials say the study will look at how Lindsay’s drinking water system can meet the needs of residents in Lindsay and Oakwood today, while supporting growth to 2051. It will review options and identify the preferred infrastructure needed to increase water treatment, storage and pumping capacity, while continuing to provide safe and reliable drinking water.

Study Area/Water Infrastructure

  1. Lindsay Water Treatment Plant
  2. Verulam Road Elevated Tank
  3. Thornhill Road Reservoir and Pumping Station
  4. Oakwood Reservoir and Booster Pumping Station
  5. Potential Future Northwest Lindsay Elevated Tank

Residents, businesses, Indigenous Communities and other interested groups will have opportunities to learn more and provide feedback as the project moves forward. The City will share future updates, including details about Public Information Centres and when the Environmental Study Report is available for review.
