KAWARTHA LAKES-A tornado touched down near Lindsay shortly after 1pm on Saturday as a band of heavy rain, thunder and lightning passed through the area.
“There are multiple photos and videos, including a video showing tree branches being lofted. Some evidence of minor damage has so far been reported.” said the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) on social media on Saturday afternoon.
The group assigned a preliminary EF0 rating to the tornado.
“Given the damage reported so far is minor, we are not planning to send a survey team. That could change if evidence of more significant damage emerges. You can send reports of significant damage to us at [email protected].”
Environment Canada had issued multiple weather warnings throughout the day including Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Tornado Warnings.
NTP also said a weak tornado struck un Woodstock on Saturday afternoon afternoon with an EF0 rating. There was also tree damage up with a strong storm at Sunny Slope / Whitestone northeast of Parry Sound. NTP still investigating the extent and intensity of damage there.
