KAWARTHA LAKES-Here are the City’s hours of operation and service schedules on Wednesday July 1, 2026 (Canada Day).
Administration Offices
All Administration and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Wednesday, July 1 and will return to regular business hours on Thursday, July 2.
Waste Collection and Landfills
All landfills will be closed on Wednesday, July 1 and will return to regular operating hours on Thursday, July 2.
Please remember that curbside waste, recycling and organics collection will shift forward a day due to Canada Day for those who have Wednesday or Thursday collection:
- Wednesday, July 1 collection moves to Thursday, July 2
- Thursday, July 2 collection moves to Friday, July 3
As a reminder, organics are now collected on the same day as your regular garbage pick-up.
Public Library
All library branches will be closed on Wednesday July 1, with regular operating hours returning on Thursday, July 2.
Our Digital Library is open every day of the year! Library patrons can access books, audio books, magazines and research databases online. All you need is your Kawartha Lakes Public Library card.
Lindsay Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Wednesday, July 1.
Parks and Recreation
All Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed on Wednesday, July 1 for Canada Day. This includes the administrative office, all recreation centres, arenas and pools.
The Lindsay Recreation Complex will be closed on Wednesday July 1 and will resume regular hours on Thursday July 2. The Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre in Bobcaygeon is currently in annual shutdown and will re-open on Monday July 6.
Public swimming and public skating will take place at the Lindsay Recreation Complex on Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28. Visit our Online Program Registration website to view schedules.

There will be no fitness classes on Wednesday July 1. Summer class schedules will begin at the Lindsay Recreation Complex, Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre, and Victoria Park Armouries on Monday July 6.

Fireworks Use
Consumer Fireworks may only be used on the day before, the day of, and the day after the holiday (June 30 to July 2). Per By-Law 2007-236, a permit is required to discharge fireworks on private property, except select statutory holidays.
Permits are always required for all types of display fireworks (professional fireworks such as pyrotechnic) and for consumer fireworks being discharged in public spaces, such as a park.
Keep in mind that fireworks are only allowed between dusk and 11pm. Fireworks require 30 metres in all directions from buildings, trees and property lines to be safely discharged. Fireworks are only be used by adults and must be discharged as directed by manufacturer instructions.
Sparklers may be used by children with close supervision by an adult, however, glow sticks are a safer alternative: sparklers can reach a temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius or more. Please do not allow children to play with sparklers unsupervised.
