Traffic Stop In Lindsay Results In Recovery Of Stolen Property

KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Lakes Police service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Queen Street and Lindsay Street North following a traffic complaint on Tuesday, June 16.

During the stop, officers identified the driver and determined he was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly, and the vehicle was seized according to police.

While processing the vehicle seizure, officers located property bearing identifying stickers from two stores in Oshawa. Police contacted store loss prevention teams, who confirmed the items had been reported stolen. Police say CCTV footage further supported the investigation, leading to additional arrests.

Both the driver and passenger now face criminal charges:

Accused #1:
39-year-old male from Little Britain

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 Sec. 354(1)(a) CC x2
  • Fail to comply with probation order Sec. 733.1(1) CC x2

Accused #2:
38-year-old male from Ottawa

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 Sec. 354(1)(a) CC x2
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting Sec. 334(b) CC x2
  • Operation while prohibited Sec. 320.18 CC
