Special Weather Statement Issued:
Potential for significant rain and freezing rain this week with ice accretion or build up of 2 to 5 mm. Rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm beginning Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and lasting through Wednesday or Wednesday night.
A series of low pressure systems will lead to significant rain and freezing rain across parts of southern Ontario. Ice build up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages are possible. There remains uncertainty across the region as to the primary form of precipitation as temperatures will hover near the freezing mark. As a result, precipitation may transition back and forth from rain and freezing rain across this time period. Precipitation may fall heavily at times, which may lead to localized flooding in low lying areas. Freezing rain warnings or rainfall warnings may be issued as the event draws nearer.
