Haliburton Highlands OPP Warn Of Increase In Use Of Counterfeit Money

ONTARIO-The Haliburton Highlands OPP says it has seen a recent increase in reported frauds and the use of counterfeit money in our communities.

“We would like to remind all residents to be cautious and vigilant when it comes to fraud related incidents.” said the OPP “Please check cash for signs of counterfeiting such as missing or damaged security features, abnormal colour and/or texture.”

Fraud and identity theft related crimes can happen to anyone. Avoid sharing personal information online, keep passwords secure, and monitor your accounts regularly to reduce your risk. If you believe you may have been the victim of a fraud, you can contact the OPP 24/7 at our non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
