Northumberland OPP Make Multiple Arrests In Recent Investigations

NORTHUMBERLAND-The Northumberland OPP has laid several charges in connection with a series of unrelated incidents across the county.

On January 25, 2026, shortly before 9:00 p.m., police responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance and damaging a door at a residence on Burnham Street North in the Township of Hamilton. The person had left prior to police arrival. Descriptions of two persons operating Motorized Snow Vehicles (MSVs), assisted officers in their investigation.

On February 4, 2026, 34-year-old Tyler Winter from Cobourg was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in March.

On February 4, 2026, at around 10:30 a.m., police received a report of a Remotely Piloted Aerial System (Drone) being launched near a correctional institution on County Road 29 in the Municipality of Brighton. Officers located a vehicle matching the description provided and took one person into custody.

28-year-old Ahmed Abd Alzim Suliman , from Mississauga, has been charged with:

  • Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property
  • Delivers contraband to, or receives contraband from, an inmate
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in March.

On January 30, 2026, at around 9:30 p.m., police responded to a report of an individual threatening another resident and allegedly kicking the complainant’s door in a multi-unit residence on Front Street East in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

22-year-old William Kurtis, from Hastings, was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in February.

On January 31, 2026, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers observed a vehicle nearly collide with another and then fail to stop for police before leaving the area at a high rate of speed in Cobourg according to police. The vehicle was later located unoccupied at a commercial property on County Road 45. Following an investigation, the driver was identified and arrested on February 1, 2026.

Jaden Hardy, from Cobourg, has been charged with:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Use plates not authorized for vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in March. Their driver’s license was suspended for 30 days and vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

On February 8, 2026, shortly before 2:30 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Concession Road 3 in the Municipality of Trent Hills. OPP then began an impaired operation investigation after speaking to the motorist. As a result, the person was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

21-year-old Nicholas Fischer, from Hastings, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Young driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Speeding

Fischer will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in March. A further 90-day Administrative Driver License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
