KAWARTHA LAKES-Ross Memorial Hospital has introduced an estimated wait time clock: rmh-predict.oculys.com/
Officials say the clock calculates an approximate wait time to seeing the Emergency Doctor every 15 minutes based on the number of patients in the department, their presenting complaints, and several other factors affecting wait time.
The time display represents the maximum wait time 9 out of every 10 patients can expect before seeing the doctor. In other words, 9 out of 10 patients will see the doctor in a timeframe shorter than the wait displayed on the clock. We chose this measure over the average wait time to better inform our community of the longest possible wait they can anticipate.
In September the Ross implemented the clock in its waiting room and found it to be 85 per cent accurate, supporting the decision to make the information publicly available.
Please note that the estimated wait times are reflective of patients presenting with non-life threatening illnesses.
Actual wait times vary significantly according to patient medical condition and other needs. If you have any health concerns, it is safest to come to the Emergency Department to be assessed and treated according to your condition.
