KAWARTHA LAKES-Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Kelly Box of Bobcaygeon. She matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the May 9, 2025 LOTTO MAX draw to win $100,000!
Kelly, a retiree, has been an occasional lottery player with OLG for the past 40 years. She especially likes playing LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49, usually picking up her tickets when the jackpots are high. Kelly always adds ENCORE to her plays and uses OLG’s Quick Pick feature to select her numbers. Now, the mother of three is delighted to share the story of her first big win.
“There was a LOTTO 6/49 Super Draw coming up, so I went to the store to grab a ticket,” Kelly recounted, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim her windfall. “I have a habit of buying LOTTO 6/49 and LOTTO MAX tickets together, and that’s exactly what I did that day.”
The night after the LOTTO MAX draw, Kelly checked the winning numbers and scanned her ticket using the OLG app, which showed she’d won a prize. “I was confused because the numbers on my ticket didn’t match the winning numbers I was looking at. I scanned my ticket again to make sure I was seeing things correctly. Only later did I realize I’d won on ENCORE! I was like ‘OMG.’ It was unbelievable!”
After keeping it to herself for a couple of days, Kelly shared the incredible news with her friend and children. “At first, they couldn’t believe it either,” she said with a laugh. “They were all so happy for me. It was an exciting moment for all of us.”
When asked what it feels like to win a big prize, Kelly said, “It’s a happy, thrilling, and overwhelming experience, all at the same time!”
With her winnings, Kelly plans to pay off bills, share with her kids, and enjoy a well-deserved vacation.
