KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes Community Paramedic team checked in on 400+ people across Kawartha Lakes providing blankets, water, and info on power outages and warming stations.
Thousands of residents remain without power after a fierce ice storm rolled through the area on Saturday. The ice accumulation snapped trees, downing hydro lines across the region.
“A huge thank you to the Durham Region Community Paramedic team for their help – we couldn’t have done it without you!” said Paramedic Chief Sara Johnston on social media.
Councillor Mike Perry says up to 50 hydro crews from across the province are set to begin staging in Fenelon Falls today in an effort to restore power to the area.
