Weldon Varsity Boys Hockey Team Wins Kawartha Championship

KAWARTHA LAKES-The Weldon Varisy Boys hockey team won the  KAWARTHA Championship 4-2 against Cobourg Collegiate on Wednesday at the Cobourg Community Centre.

This is the first KAWARTHA Hockey Championship in school history dating back to 1971.

“After losing the KAWARTHA Championship last year it was nice to get that Purple banner for the school gym this year.” said Coach Dave Chambers.

The team defeated St Peter’s in the KAWARTHA Semi Finals last week,  winning a two game series Peterborough. The team are now bound for the COSSA Championship. The chance to repeat as COSSA champions would earn them a spot at OFSAA for the 2nd year in a row.

Congratulations!
