KAWARTHA LAKES-Conservative incumbent Laurie Scott has been re-elected to represent Haliburton-Kawartha-Lakes Brock as MPP for another term.

Scott has represented the riding since 2003.

Scott was born and raised in the village of Kinmount. Her father, the late Bill Scott, was a federal Progressive Conservative MP from 1965 to 1993. She obtained a degree in nursing and worked at the Ross Memorial Hospital and the Toronto General Hospital.

Scott received approximately 25,506 votes for 51.95% of the vote. Liberal Alison Bennie received 11,688 votes with 22.91% and NDP candidate Barbara Doyle had 6,993 votes for 13. 7%.

Conservative Dave Smith also won his riding of Peterborough-Kawartha with 22,383 votes for 40.49%.

The Conservatives have won a third majority government in Ontario with Premier Doug Ford also winning his seat. Although they ended the night with 80 seats, three less than in 2022.

The NDP will form the Official Opposition. The Liberal Party won 14 seats which is enough to give them Party Status once again.
