PETERBOROUGH-Members of the OPP Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) unit, arrested three individuals in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.
On Wednesday February 5, 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU, along with ROPE located an individual in the city of Peterborough believed to be involved in trafficking. Officers observed the vehicle they were in, enter a parking area of a business located on Lansdowne Street. Officers approached the vehicle taking three individuals into custody. Upon a search of the vehicle, a handgun and ammunition were located.
A warrant was executed at the residence of the driver of the vehicle where a person wanted out of Northumberland was located and arrested. As well at this location, officers say they located a shotgun as well as a prohibited rifle and ammunition.
42-year-old Wallace Groves of Trent Hills, ON., was arrested and charged with:
·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine
·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Other Drugs
·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
·      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a firearm (two counts)
·      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)
·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
·      Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
·      Breach of Recognizance
·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000
·      Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order (four counts)
31-year-old Leanne Lockhart of Trent Hills, ON., was arrested and charged with:
·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
·      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a firearm (two counts)
·      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)
·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
·      Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
62-year-old David Liebenow of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with:
·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm
·      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)
·      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a firearm (two counts)
·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
During the arrest, officers located and seized:
·      3.5 grams Crack Cocaine
·      56 Oxycodone pills
·      Canadian Currency
·      one Revolver style Handgun
·      one Shotgun
·      one Rifle
·      ammunition
·      Three cell phones
The accused were held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
