KAWARTHA LAKES-Two local residents are facing charges after being stopped at separate RIDE checks.
On September 18th, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 35.
Officers briefly spoke to the driver of the vehicle before asking them to pull over to the shoulder for further investigation. Police say the driver couldn’t provide the Officer with proper documentation for operating a motor vehicle.
After further investigation, it was found that the driver was suspended from operating a motor vehicle and was on conditions by the courts.
Officers say they seized suspected 3 g of crack cocaine from the vehicle.
37-year-old Stephaine THOMAS from Lindsay was arrested and charged with

–Â Â Â Â Â Â Failure to comply with release order
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Failure to comply with release order
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Driving while under suspension
The accused was transported by Officers and held for bail.
On September 18, 2024, at 11:07 p.m., officers conducted a RIDE Program on County Road 8 in Fenelon Township. A motor vehicle approached the officers conducting the program and an odor of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver according to police.
David Palmer, 59-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80.
In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
