KAWARTHA LAKES-Kawartha Settlers’ Village announced today it will no longer be holding the Annual Haunted Village event.
Officials said they didn’t make this decision lightly.
“The primary reason for this decision is the current lack of volunteers needed to execute such a large-scale event. The setup for the Haunted Village is a labour-intensive process, requiring a dedicated committee and substantial manpower to ensure it runs smoothly. Unfortunately, without the necessary volunteer support, it is not feasible to continue the event in its current form.” said the group.
There is the possibility of the Haunted Village returning in future years provided that a proper committee can be established to support the event and organizers say they are open to the idea of another organization or group taking on the Haunted Village, using their space to continue the tradition.
“We would welcome any proposals for such a partnership. Another factor in our decision is the proximity of the Haunted Village to our Festival of Trees event, which is our largest fundraiser of the year. Given the importance of the Festival of Trees in supporting Kawartha Settlers’ Village, it must take precedence in our planning and resource allocation.”
Organizers thanked everyone involved in previous years for making the event a success.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Kawartha Settlers’ Village. We look forward to your participation in our upcoming events and are hopeful for the future possibilities of the Haunted Village.
