KAWARTHA LAKES-The Ladies Foursome is a comedy about life, friendship, and golf, written by renowned playwright and Order of Canada recipient , Norm Foster.
Norm Foster cut the ribbon when Globus Theatre moved into the Lakeview Arts Barn in Bobcaygeon 19 years ago, and Globus has staged one of his plays almost every year since then, including Mending Fences in Globus Theatre’s 20th season.
To celebrate the life of a dear friend, three golfing buddies, Connie, Margot and Tate join a new acquaintance, Dory, for a round of golf (and gossip!) As the ladies play, they share stories of life, love, sex, and family…and surprises, secrets and confessions become par for the course. If the name sounds familiar, The Ladies Foursome was inspired by Norm Foster’s other play The Foursome, about four male college friends reuniting for a game of golf. The Foursome was part of Globus’ 2015 season, and now a whole new story with new characters will take to the stage August 14 to 24.
The Ladies Foursome stars resident actor and Globus Artistic Director Sarah Quick as Connie alongside Elana Post as Margot. Joining them on stage are newcomers Linette Doherty as Dory and Melissa Morris as Tate.
“I love how this play encapsulates female friendships and everything that ladies, when they get together, talk about,” explains Sarah Quick. “The three actresses that I’m working alongside, are fantastic, and we’ve been having so much fun in rehearsals. Each year we do a Norm Foster play, and it is always a busy show that’s a big hit with the audiences. But I love the fact that this year there are groups of girlfriends and groups of ladies golfing foursomes, coming to see the show. The Ladies Foursome is great for men, too, of course, especially if they’ve ever wanted to know what women gossip about over 18 holes of golf!”
The Ladies Foursome is a delightful reminder that life, much like golf, is best enjoyed with good friends and a few laughs along the way. Don’t miss this girl-power comedy with balls, on stage starting this Wednesday, August 14 to Saturday, August 24.
