Three Additional Schools In City Of Kawartha Lakes Under Boundary Review

KAWARTHA LAKES-Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) announced a boundary review of the Dr. George Hall Public School, Jack Callaghan Public School, and Mariposa Elementary School catchment areas.

“In TLDSB, we aim to provide our students with the best possible educational experience. The school boundary review will help us ensure we are able to continue supporting high-quality educational programming, student achievement and well-being.
Conducting a boundary review enables the Board to look at the attendance area for a school, or group of schools, examining student enrolment, program demand, new housing construction, and/or other factors.” said a press release from TLDSB.

Officials say families of these schools have been informed that a boundary review is underway and once the review is complete, they will receive the details directly from their child(ren)’s school. Any changes will take effect in September 2024.

Families and community members are invited to learn more about this boundary review and provide feedback at a community consultation meeting taking place on Wednesday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the Lindsay Collegiate Vocational Institute (LCVI) cafeteria. Following this meeting, options will be taken to the TLDSB Board of Trustees in June 2023 for consideration.

On April 26 Kawartha 411 News reported that there is a boundary review currently taking place for Parkview Public School on Adelaide Street North in Lindsay.

Officials say a boundary review is conducted by the Board to analyze the attendance area for a school or group of schools due to changes in student enrolment, program demands, school capacity, new construction, or other factors.

“These reviews are needed to help balance school enrolment and capacity, minimize transportation, and maximize walk zones.” said Sinead Fegan, Communications, Trillium Lakelands District School Board. “With an increase in housing developments in Lindsay, particularly in the Parkview Public School catchment area, TLDSB is preparing for a significant increase in the student population over the coming decade.”

Fegan says the board will be holding community consultations in the future.

Information about all reviews will be posted on the Boundary Review page on the Board’s website.
